OH Gigamaser in a quasistellar Galaxy
(1992)

Searching high-power maser radiation of OH molecule (1667 MHz) on the frequency, appropriate to red shift quasi stellar object PHL 909 - 0.171 has shown, shows that in two cycles of observations the weak signal was registered with the antenna temperature 25 +- 5 mK and frequency width of 900 KHz (figure 1) that corresponds to a flux of 60 +- 12 mJy. Luminosity of a Galaxy in this line is of the order 0.8x10000 L of the Sun, i.e.approximately in 10E+9 times more, than at usual galactic OH masers. So this object can be related to a new class "gigamasers".
