Scientific achievements, Metagalaxy sector

 2000:

According to the BTA observations, the redshift Z=0.7063+-0.0017 was measured for a distant galaxy possessing the 24 magnitude, in which there occurred an explosion of a massive star, followed by a gamma-ray burst catalogued as GRB991208. The brightness evolution of the corresponding variable optical source was tracked.
In collaboration with the Space Telescope Science Institute (USA), the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (Spain).

The largest sample of 241 low-mass, gas-rich galaxies with active star formation in the sky region of about 700 square degrees was created. Its further study opens up the possibility of observational testing of the chemical evolution models for these galaxies, as well as the models of formation of the observed large-scale structure of the Universe.
In collaboration with the University of Hamburg (Germany).

According to the Palomar Sky Survey, about 600 new nearby dwarf galaxies were discovered. The anisotropy of the Hubble flow is detected, which may be caused by the rotation of the Local Supercluster. The total mass of the Local Group is estimated at 1.2 trillion solar masses, and its relation to the luminosity on the scale of 1 Mpc is 23 +-4 in solar units, which does not require the presence of a supermassive dark halo around our Galaxy and the Andromeda galaxy.
In collaboration with the JSC of the Kiev University (Ukraine), and Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy (Germany).
