First Astrophysical School "Trajectory" for senior pupils
The Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences
together with the "Trajectory" foundation for supporting scientific,
educational, and cultural initiativesheld the First Astrophysical School
"Trajectory" in August 2016. The project is aimed to help senior school
students develop and maintain their interest in science, as well as to
expand their knowledge in the field of astronomy and astrophysics.
The astrophysical school "Trajectory" is a three-year course of internal
and correspondence studies on a specially developed program. 42 final
participants, 8th-grade students, were selected from the results of
tests in mathematics, physics, and astronomy. The extended school
"Trajectory" is the first long-term project in the history of astronomical
schools aimed at the advanced study of astrophysics beyond the school
curriculum.
